Our gardens are increasingly being regarded as outdoor living spaces. Many of us, whether we have a little garden, a courtyard in need of space-saving solutions, a large estate, or even a balcony area, are taking inside trends outside.
We’ve never used our gardens for entertaining or relaxing as much as we have over the past few years. Gardens have always been a key influence in home buying decisions, but the pandemic has demonstrated that having a lovely outside space is more vital than ever. Consequently, outdoor furniture is adapting to match the current trend. With many of us cutting back on our holidays, the concept of using our gardens to recreate a holiday vibe is highly appealing.
Those who enjoy eating al fresco with friends and family during the summer and winter months will find that creating al fresco dining areas with indoor-outdoor furniture such as rattan dining sets with BBQs, integrated fire pits, outdoor heating and discreet lighting will want them spending more time outside. These are simple ideas that can have a big impact in your outdoor space.
Duxbury Garden and Home knows a thing or two about this market, and as a result, we are pleased to announce that Duxburys Home and Garden is the winner of April’s campaign of the month.
In December 2021, our Sales Manager, Will Hallgarth, approached Frank Duxbury, owner of Duxbury Home and Garden. Two months later in February 2022 they had a fantastic live campaign on Warrington Own Buses, CT Plus, Squarepeg Buses & Nottingham City Transport, with a total of thirty outstanding Super rear adverts on buses across all fleets, maximising exposure in all these areas.
Due to the external location and cost effectiveness of such campaigns, Super Rears are the most common advertisements and can be found on both single-deck and double-deck buses.
The Duxbury story
Duxbury’s Home & Garden is a family-run business established in 1992.
Frank Duxbury says that having his own firm was crucial to him since he didn’t feel the same fulfilment working for someone else. He went to night school to study fashion and started creating babywear, then drove a taxi for a few years before beginning a handyman firm, which swiftly evolved into garden services. In 1992, the Duxbury’s brand was established. He swiftly took advantage of the relatively new market and quickly built a fantastic local reputation.
His wife Lesley was with him from the beginning and now manages all the finances, while Garry his son manages all the deliveries and warehousing and his daughter Emma manages all products and customer orders in-store.
From merely looking for a yard space for the garden maintenance business, a terrific chance arose to take over an established garden centre business. The rest is history! He began naively with no prior expertise in retail, but through trial and error, hard effort, and tenacity, they eventually found success.
He explains that they get a lot of business from word of mouth from all over the country, which is not surprising given that they are conveniently located just 5 minutes from M6 Junction 29, between Leyland and Preston, making it easy for people to find them. They also get a lot of passing trade on their way back to London or Scotland.
One observation Frank has made is consumers are willing to invest into the complete package with prominent pieces of furniture with three or four distinct sets in their gardens to create a comfortable yet functional space, such as rattan corner units with fire pits and chimeneas to create a focal point, and bistro sets to enjoy a cup of coffee in the early morning sun. The ideal dining experience includes dining tables and matching reclining seats, as well as numerous parasols or sunshades to complete the look. Using outdoor clocks, wall art, peaceful and tranquil water components and solar lights to add the finishing touches to the outdoor space, as well as BBQs and pizza ovens to make that alfresco feast. Soft furnishings have also become more popular to make outdoor spaces cosier and inviting. All which Duxburys Garden and Home stock.
While Duxbury’s Home & Garden specialises in garden furniture, they also have a 20,000 square foot showroom with over 100 sets on display for both garden and indoor living, including sofas, living/dining furniture, portraits, wall art, mirrors and carpets, so you can try before you buy. Their displays are continually being updated.
They’ve put in a lot of time and effort over the years to ensure that their customers get the best possible products and service. Duxburys Home and Garden is well known for going above and beyond. Their dedicated and friendly staff are always available to offer assistance and guidance.
They are open Monday-Saturday 9am-5:30pm & Sunday 10am-4:30pm. On arrival you will enjoy their extra wide car parking spaces. The coffee lounge opens daily from 10am-4:15pm serving hot drinks and homemade cakes. They also offer home delivery service.
If Preston is too far for you, you can request a personalised zoom call, call 01772 336664 to arrange your meeting or visit their website to see their extensive choice of home and garden furnishings, as well as a lot more.
All of us at Adverta are happy with the final design for this advertising campaign. We would like to congratulate our Reginal Account Manager, Will. We would also like to thank our fixing and campaign teams for all their hard work in bringing this campaign to life.
Our Regional Account Manager, Will had this to say “It’s been a real pleasure working with Frank and his team. The entire process was simple because they knew precisely what they wanted: widespread brand awareness and exposure across the country! Input bus advertising and voila! The Adverts are visually stunning and are sure to draw attention on the roads. It’s one of those campaigns I see on a regular basis!”
