The oldest un-changed bus route is in London; route 24. It runs from Hampstead Heath to Pimlico and began back in 1910.

Five billion bus journeys are made a year in Great Britain, with one billion to or from work.

Over two-thirds of Jobseekers Allowance claimants have no access to their own car or cannot drive (Total Transport, pteg 2011).
